Excitement in the world of Freestyle Skiing is high as the ski cross and moguls World Cup tours are set to get underway this weekend.
Friday marks the first event of the 2017/18 Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup season - and the opening event of the 2017 Cross Alps Tour - with back-to-back races on 7th and 9th December in Val Thorens (FRA).
Featuring six competitions at four resorts and countries – Val Thorens, Arosa (SUI), Montafon (AUT) and Innichen/San Candido (ITA) – in just over two weeks of December, the Cross Alps Tour represents half the World Cup points up for grabs this season.

With favourite Marielle Thompson (CAN) out with a knee injury, the top names expected to vie for victories include Sierra Nevada 2017 World Champion and 2016/17 FIS World Cup runner up Sandra Naeslund (SWE), Voss 2013 World Champion and 2012/13 crystal globe winner Fanny Smith (SUI), Kreischberg 2015 World Champion Andrea Limbacher (AUT) and five-time World Cup race winner Heidi Zacher (GER) among others.
On the men’s side, three-time crystal globe winner, and reigning Olympic Champion Jean Frederic Chapuis (FRA) can expect to see his toughest competition from the likes of last year’s overall runner-up Brady Leman (CAN), Sierra Nevada 2017 World Champion and 2013/14 crystal globe winner Victor Oehling Norberg (SWE) or Kreischberg 2015 World Champion and 2011/12 World Cup winner Filip Flisar (SLO)..
